Benzoin Sumatra resin 500 g is packed in square glass-jar with gold colour closure.
To be burnt on charcoal as frankincense.

Benzoin resin is a balsamic resin obtained from the bark of several species of trees in the genus Styrax and is a common ingredient in incense-making and perfumery because of its vanilla ice-cream aroma. It is burned on charcoal as an incense. Benzoin Sumatra is obtained from Styrax benzoin grown on the island of Sumatra. In perfumery, benzoin is used as a fixative, slowing the dispersion of essential oils and other fragrance materials into the air.

How to use it
1) Hold the charcoal tablet with pincers and turn it on (as indicated in our "how to use" page)
2) As soon as ignition is evident, place the charcoal tablet in the burner
3) Pour the resin on the charcoal

According to the book of Matthew 2,11, gold, frankincense and myrrh were among the gifts to Jesus by the Biblical Magi "from the East." It is burnt on charcoal, on its own or mixed with frankincense and sometimes other resins. Myrrh is also used to prepare the sacramental chrism.
